[Af_List] Preamps for portable field recording?

I've been running around with an old MP3 player that allows me to 
record via line in (stereo mini-jack plug) directly to WAV or 
AIFF.

I bought a cheap stereo mic while living in Tokyo, which has done 
fine for recording fairly loud sources, but I'm now wondering 
about getting a pre-amp to allow me to make some quieter 
recordings with less constant hiss.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Basically just want something very small, preferably stereo 
mini-jack in and out.  I'm not looking for professional audio 
quality or whatever because a) I'm too dumb to hear the difference 
and b) I'll probably end up mashing up the results anyway.
