Bruce Russell, Jack Body, John Cousins, Campbell Kneale, Sean Kerr,
Andrew Clifford, Sally McIntyre, and Dugal McKinnon in conversation



'Sound/art' what is it? What are its various trajectories and
manifestations, and where do its boundaries and limits lie? How should
it be documented, recorded, transcribed and re-presented?



These are just some of the questions that leading practitioners,
writers, curators, and specialists in the field will discuss in a
workshop hosted by the Adam Art Gallery in conjunction with Sound
Check, a three-year Adam Art Gallery exhibition and performance series
that canvases the history and current state of sound/art in New
Zealand, and explores the practices that intersect with it.



Attending the workshop will be Bruce Russell, one of New Zealand's
most recognised noise artists; internationally acclaimed composers
Jack Body and John Cousins; experimental noise musician Campbell
Kneale, multi-media artist and curator Sean Kerr, curators Andrew
Clifford and Sally McIntyre; and Dugal McKinnon, Studio Director at
the New Zealand School of Music, Wellington. The workshop will be
chaired by Tina Barton, director of the Adam Art Gallery.



This will be a unique occasion to listen in on some of New Zealand's
foremost authorities exchanging ideas and information on the subject
of sound/art and its histories and how this could be surveyed in the
Sound Check series.

This event is FREE and will be held at the Adam Art Gallery, Victoria
University of Wellington.
